The Clayton High School Marching Band is one of the most visible organizations on the Clayton High School campus. The Marching Band is rich with history and performs with a tradition of excellence. The band is an extracurricular group that performs from August through December, comprised of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. The band also includes the Color Guard in show performances, pep band, and special event performances as well. Performances during the Fall season include home football games, local & regional travel competitions, and Town of Clayton parades & events.
Practices begin with a two-week daily Band Camp in July, various Saturday all-day mini camps, and multiple after school sessions through early November. The performance schedule for the band begins in August with the first home football game, and finishes with local parades and Town of Clayton events in early December.
Auditions for the Clayton High School Marching Band and Color Guard Fall season are open to Clayton High School students in 9th-12th grades, and for current 8th grade middle school students currently districted to Clayton High School. Early auditions for Marching Band & Color Guard take place in the month of May each year. Other opportunities to join the Marching Band for the Fall season are also available at the annual June student/parent interest meeting and prior to the start of Band Camp in July.
