Bachelor of Music Education from East Carolina University with honors in 2004
graduating Magna Cum-Laude. While attending East Carolina he participated in
Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble B, and various

years as Director of Bands at Speight Middle School in Wilson County Schools.
While at Speight Mr. Pearson built the program to over 130 students and started a
band booster organization. In 2005 Mr. Pearson received a Star Teacher Award for
outstanding performance. During the time at Speight Mr. Pearson worked toward
his Masters Degree in Music Education at East Carolina University. He received
his Masters in 2006 and became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2009. In the

his direction the band at Clayton has accomplished many outstanding milestones
including making Bands of America Regional Finals 5 times with the marching
band, WGI Finals in both Percussion and Guard, and multiple Superior Ratings
in Grade V and VI at NC Music Performance Adjudication events. The growth of
the Jazz Program at Clayton has also been largely due his love of Jazz and teaching.
Mr. Pearson’s vision, determination, and organization have given Clayton constant
growth and direction to become one of the best programs in North Carolina.

Band Masters Association, South Eastern Band Director Association, and President
